Ayrton Senna's Principles of race driving

Hardcover - engelstalig
208 pagina's
Jaar van uitgifte: 1993 (zeer zeldzaam)

The late three-time World Champion Senna's winning insights for success on the track.

Ayrton Senna was a three times F1 world champion before his untimely death at Imola in 1994. His driving record and dedication to the sport have seen him heralded as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time and this book gives an interesting insight into his own race practice.

The book is basically a 'how-to' manual. Divided into specific chapters it covers all aspects of race craft including racing lines, cornering, acceleration, braking etc. The writing is clear and concise and well illustrated by both photographs and diagrams. Since this book was written technology has moved on to the point some techniques he describes are now superfluous but the rudimentary skills of race driving remain the same. Many of the techniques he describes are as applicable to the karting track as to the F1 track and therefore this book will be of interest to those at many levels of motorsport. Even for those who have no intention of getting behind a race wheel it provides a detailed account of the skills needed and therefore helps you to understand the sport and driver techniques that bit better. As well as the practicalities of driving there are chapters on driver fitness, diet and psychology which give valuable background information into the overall career of a racing driver and their off track training.

There has been a lack of textbook type publications in motor racing over the years - the vast majority of works produced either being history reviews or biographies. This book looks at the sport at a far more practical level and is a must for aspiring race drivers though no doubt many spectators will find the detailed descriptions of interest and ultimately rewarding. A very informative read.
