The Ferrari F1-89 is the single-seater Ferrari that competed in the 1989, designed by John Barnard, the technical director of Ferrari during that season. The Ferrari F1-89 was the first Ferrari he was responsible to design and he proposed for the first time ever a big innovation in an F1 car: a semiautomatic sequential gearbox. His idea was to speed up gear change and it was accepted eventually used by all teams.
